The UK broadband market is more competitive than at any point in its history, with full-fibre infrastructure driving down prices and pushing up speeds.

Full Fibre vs Superfast

Full Fibre (FTTP): Direct fibre to your home. Speeds 100Mbps to 2,000Mbps. Available to around 16 million UK premises and expanding.

Superfast (FTTC): Fibre to street cabinet, copper from there. Typically 30-70Mbps. More widely available but slower.

What Speed Do You Need?

A household of 3-4 people with typical streaming, video calls and gaming needs at least 50Mbps. 100Mbps is comfortable for simultaneous heavy use.

How to Switch

Switching between Openreach network providers is handled through the One Touch Switch process. Your new provider manages the switch with minimal interruption.

Watch for Mid-Contract Price Rises

Most providers include provisions for price rises linked to CPI or RPI during the contract. Factor this into your total cost comparison.
