About National Herald

Truth, Without Favour.

Britain deserves journalism that is rigorous, independent, and utterly free from political or commercial influence. That is why National Herald exists.

Independent journalism at the service of democracy

National Herald was founded on a conviction that is simple to state and hard to execute: that Britain deserves journalism free from political alignment, advertiser pressure, and the short-termism that has hollowed out so many newsrooms.

We report the facts. We analyse the implications. We hold those in power accountable. We do not take sides — but we do take accuracy seriously.

Our editorial independence is not a marketing claim. It is a structural commitment backed by our funding model and the culture our team builds every day.

How National Herald came to be

National Herald was established in 2025 at a moment when British journalism was undergoing its most profound transformation in a generation. Legacy titles were declining. Trust in media was falling. The gap between the journalism Britain had and the journalism Britain needed was widening every year.

Our founding team brought together experienced journalists from the Financial Times, The Times, The Guardian, Reuters, and the BBC — united not by shared politics but by shared professional values. We believe rigorous, independent reporting is the foundation of democratic life.
