The State Pension increased by 4.1% on 6 April 2026 under the triple lock guarantee.

New Rates 2026-27

**Full New State Pension:** 230.25 per week (11,973 per year). Requires 35 qualifying National Insurance years.

**Basic State Pension (old system):** 176.45 per week.

**Pension Credit minimum:** 218.15 per week for single people.

State Pension Age

Currently 66 for men and women. Rising to 67 between 2026 and 2028.

Filling NI Gaps

n

If you have gaps in your National Insurance record from unemployment or time abroad, you may be able to pay voluntary Class 3 contributions to fill them. An extended deadline applies for filling gaps from 2006-07 to 2016-17.
